Professor Aly Arn was born and raised in Michigan and moved to Louisiana in 2008. Once settled in, she started her career serving her community by becoming a Firefighter. While looking for an activity that would complement her career physically, she found Gracie United Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Here, she found the perfect outlet for her physical and mental health to keep up with her career.
Over the years, Professor Aly started stepping in to help teach the kid’s classes and then eventually the adults. Doing so, she found a way to give back to the BJJ community by sharing the knowledge, confidence, and discipline she has learned over the years. Professor Aly now, a brown belt teaches classes twice a week and competes for several times a year at IBJJF tournaments.
She has competed at many events over the years and is a 2x IBJJF Master World champion, an IBJJF Pan American Champion, and a multiple-time IBJJF International Open champion. Since Professor Aly has begun teaching, she learned how much it helped her with her Jiu Jitsu. She also learned how gratifying it is to see the growth and impact on the competency and self-esteem of her students at the fire academy and the Jiu Jitsu academy. What Our Students Are Saying
Robbie is amazing with the students he teaches. He is very patient and disciplined. His staff is amazing and professional. Being a single mom, this is important as he helps instill values in my boys that they may not otherwise receive. He has been very patient, understanding and professional. We recommend him to everyone and will continue Jiu Jitsu!
When you walk through the door you are greeted with a welcoming handshake from professor Robbie. He and his coaches are experts at motivating a person to be the best they can be. The gym has a warm and inviting vibe where anyone would feel comfortable learning the art. I highly recommend at least stopping in for a visit.
Professor Robbie and his coaches do an outstanding job with the kids. Jiu Jitsu has been incredible for my son for his confidence and discipline. It's been wonderful watching my six-year-old transform into a confident, self-assertive kid who stands up for himself and others. I can't recommend Professor Robbie and his staff enough.
We joined Gracie United- Team Ascension after trying every martial art studio in the area and instantly my husband and I felt the difference. Not only my son who is currently training, but our whole family was welcomed with open arms. Professor Robbie and his coaches are just top notch people. It was the best feeling and I’ve made some great friendships too. We will be here a long time and eventually my family of 5 will all be on the mat I foresee. He also offers a Women’s self defense class on Saturdays that all ages can benefit from and I look forward to! Come try the free week he offers, I promise you will never look back! Worth.every.single.penny.
Professor Robbie is incredible and really strives to make sure each child succeeds and understands the safety of Jiu Jitsu with self defense. No child is treated differently based on experience and they all work together as a team to achieve the same goal in their lessons. He is very professional with communication with parents and really has your child's best interest at all times. I really cannot say enough great things about Gracie United Ascension and give them a 10/10.
We were visiting my family in Baton Rouge from Oklahoma and needed a place for my kids to train and roll while visiting. We were fortunate enough to visit this facility from an affiliate academy recommendation in Baton Rouge. I was impressed with his facility, his professionalism, and the discipline and structure of his instruction. If I lived in the area, this would undoubtedly be the place I would want my children to train.
